As an accepted part of many physical rehabilitation programs, massage and manual therapies promote the healing of injured muscular tissue and benefit many chronic conditions, including musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, bursitis, high blood pressure, diabetes, immune suppression, depression, and more.
We utilize a combination of several techniques in each session, individually designed to meet the needs of each client. Therapeutic and relaxation massage use combinations of Swedish, deep tissue, and myofascial release and stretching techniques.
Swedish massage, or “relaxation massage” combines long, gliding strokes with kneading strokes using the heel of the hand and fingers. Swedish massage is designed to relax muscles and increase circulation. This type of massage flushes tissues of metabolic waste products, such as uric and lactic acid, and stretches ligaments and tendons, keeping them loose.
Deep tissue massage refers to both pressure and specificity of the work. This work addresses chronic tension patterns in the body, releases tight, sore muscles, restores movement, eases restrictions and decreases pain.
Myofascial Release: MYO means muscle and fascia is a supportive web of connective tissue throughout the body that surrounds groups of muscles fibers, entire muscle groups, and organs. Fascia connects every organ and tissue in the body with every other part. Myofascial release techniques are used to coax muscles to relax and break adhesions in the fascia, providing an increased ease of movement.
Zero Balancing® is a powerful body-mind therapy that uses skilled touch to address the relationship between energy and structures of the body. Following a protocol that typically lasts 30 to 45 minutes, the practitioner uses finger pressure and gentle traction on areas of tension in the bones, joints and soft tissue to create fulcrums, or points of balance, around which the body can relax and reorganize. Pre-Natal Massage is safe and effective for women during their pregnancy. Certified in pre-natal massage, we use special techniques and positioning to decrease common physical discomforts and emotional distress of pregnancy while enhancing well-being.
